Brief: Lola Pizzaiola is a pizzeria in the hip chic neighborhood of Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin. They wanted a colorful and lively mural to welcome customers indoors during winter time.
Concept: What if Lola was a character? I realized she would be that outgoing, charismatic friend, the best party host. The mural design shows Lola throwing a party, where she and her FLINTA* friends have fun with pizza elements, surrounded by iconic sights of Prenzlauer Berg. All elements are blended by a striking color palette.
Technique: Mural painting
I created the project digitally, following the client's brief and all the location measures. I chose a well defined color palette inspired by Lola Pizzaiola's branding.
The goal was to welcome customers indoors, and provide them a memorable experience at the pizzeria.
The next step was to transfer the tailor-made illustration onto the walls first as a sketch, and then with paint. During this process, the different characters came to life, each with their own personality.
I borrowed some elements that make Lola unique, such as their way of serving the pizza. When you order your slice of pizza there, you'll receive it not on a plate, but on a wooden board, which invites you to share and eat it with your hands.
Another source of inspiration was the fact that customers are regulars, and they live in the area. Because of that, I included iconic sights of the neighborhood in order to generate a sense of connection and belonging amongst the guests.
